When Microsoft first come out with Exchange 2007, the edge on the DMZ was not
supported (domain or not domain). They denied service because of that, and we
had to move it to the internal network.

The Edge transport can be a member of the AD domain in the DMZ. But cannot be a
member of the AD Domain where the other Exchange roles are installed.

The release notes as well as the deployment guide tell it's possible to
install E2k7 Edge. The release notes say it's not possible to install TMG as
a workgroup member, the deployment guide says it is. Best practice is to
install the Edge role on a workgroup member.
So there are some discrepancies...
