Did the same thing (wrote a proxy) for the same reason. VB and Java.
Then I found Webscarab. Freakin' cool man. Of course I learned a lot
more writing my own than using someone else's...

Nah, that's a myth. Whale pucky is.

I actually think that squid proxy is OK to test with but that's about
all.
I mean it has features that appeal to some folks.

I wrote my own proxy tool last year so that I could see what was
contained in the headers for response/request and that was pretty cool.
I could even change the response before it was sent to the requester.
I'm not sure If ISA
Has the ability to peak into the response/request headers or not but it
would be a great tool to have.

I always thought that squids were the "lowest form of Marine life".

Count on a jarhead to lose the context...
That would be if "why is A Squid involved?"...

..hmmmm...

Thus begs the question - if you're using AD and ISA has direct access to
the
LAN / Internet, why is Squid involved at all?

Here is the setup

ISA is the firewall with dual nics- one in our DMZ and one in our
internal
LAN.

Squid is available via wpad and is located on the internal network and
uses
ISA for internet access.

Squid authenticates with Active Directory using Samba.
