Hi Jeff, I you ever get desparate, T1 is only 395/mo in Dallas. Still expensive, but if you are running a business, its a justifiable write off. Thanks! I had even ordered business DSL for my home and found they botched the installation and put in residential. Their response was... well it works so lets leave it alone. Now with the advent of Code Red, they are blocking ICMP, TCP Ports 21, 23, 25, and 80. They have plans to start blocking more (per tech support). My request for a new router config for business is now going on 3 weeks of "we will get back to you shortly". Also now since they no longer bridge business accounts, I will have to pay for 4 IP addresses for the router so I can get one static. If I did not originally have a business contract at a fixed price, their new price would have cost me 4 times the residential. Now with Covad, Rythms and NorthPoint either out of business or going that way... I am busy with customer notifications of "Due to the chapter 11 of <fillintheblank> your service will be discontinued on <fillinsomedate>" Check out a good article at http://www.emarketer.com/analysis/broadband/20010417_bband.html - Jeff -----Original Message----- From: JB Fields [mailto:jbfields3@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, August 31, 2001 6:25 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Something ISA Server can't fix http://www.ISAserver.org Yes, exactly. And so what if my family wants to look at vacation pictures? I sure wish I knew who to talk to among the people who regulate the phone companies. Our cable provider blocks port 80 also even for business accounts. We have a sbs2000 server and are having a constant battle. So far the provider will not open it. We tried to explain we dont want to web host but do want to get to outlook web and they will not hear of it. dm -----Original Message----- From: Thor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Thor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 11:35 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Something ISA Server can't fix http://www.ISAserver.org I've got a facility in Baltimore, and we use Atlantech DSL (I see you are in DC, maybe they service you)... The startup costs were a bit high, but the service is excellent. The monthly is pretty cheap to- I think it is something like $130 for SDSL 720k or something. You should check them out on DSLReports.com The circuit rocks too- I'm consistently under 70ms; good enough to run voice over IP.
