"True proxy" is a bit vague. CERN proxy requires only a single NIC because each "side" of the conversation is a unique TCP connection. What some folks think of as ISA "proxy" behavior for non-HTTP/FTP traffic is really either NAT or Winsock remoting (FWC). ------------------------------------------------------- Jim Harrison MCP(NT4, W2K), A+, Network+, PCG http://isaserver.org/Jim_Harrison/ http://isatools.org Read the help / books / articles! ------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: JosephK [mailto:josephk@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 09:30 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Single NIC and proxy chaining http://www.ISAserver.org I want to make sure that BOX1 -- BOX2 indeed chains correctly. I like to follow the logs and determine that when I look at BOX1 logs that I can see in BOX2 logs the path between the 2 systems. I'm not seeing that sometimes for what ever reason, the path goes to BOX3 and if a box were being used as a true proxy, would it not need 2 NIC'S? Just a question.
