I see...
I want MMC management from a remote location.
So what else do I need to enable in order to provide
MMC management apart from a filter to allow 1433 TCP connections?

I was asking what applications and connections you're trying to support.

Port 1433 isn't of any use for MMC management to SQL as it also requires
RPC communications.
The remote clients will have to use TCP/IP as their default network
connection library; named pipes connections will fail.

I want the port 1433 open so that I can publish my SQL.
What do you mean?

Is there anything wrong with what I'm stating...

SQL can't be accessed using what?
TCP-1433 is only the default SQL client connection port for DB usage via
TCP/IP.
That doesn't allow MMC management or Named Pipes DB connections.

Hi i have a SQL Server 2000 version,
running on the same box as ISA.
When I enable IP Packet filtering SQL cannot
be accessed from external although I set the
a packet filter to enable access on the 1433 port
on a specific range of IPs.

What should I do?
Thx,
Vasilis.
