ISA simply routes the IP traffic from itself to your Exchange Server. It does
not store, or even examine, the E-mails being transmitted. Therefore, no
receipts are sent, etc.

No, ISA cannot store SMTP mail, i.e. it cannot be used as a mail spool.

List,

Firstly my apologies if this has already been covered.

A few questions on ISA and SMTP mail.

Does ISA store and forward SMTP or does it simply pass through to the specified
Exchange Server?
With that in mind does ISA send the acceptance receipt to sending server when
the Port 25 session is complete?
Does ISA have the capability to store incoming mail when the specified Exchange
server is down and then forward once the server has come back up again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anthony Sullivan
