Hi Andres,

Yes, the default is "half NAT", which preserves the original source IP
address.

Tom,

If the smtp server is not on the same machine as isa and it is
published,
well you then get the address of the isa or the actual address of smtp
coming in?

Andres

Hi Aaron,

That's one reason why you shouldn't run a mail server on the ISA Server
:-)

You can get around this problem by using packet filters instead of
publishing rules, but that has its downside too.

Showing 127.0.0.1

Hello, I am attempting to track the source IP address of external users
connected to my SMTP server, but wheh I look at the "current sessions"
in
the Exchange System Manager it shows a user name, and always 127.0.0.1
in
the "from" column. I used ISA server's publishing rules to publish the
SMTP server (it is on the same box as ISA server). Any help in having
the
external IP address show would be very helpful. Thanks!

Aaron
