useful

Not in this fashion; sorry for the assumption of Exchange 2000/ Win2k SMTP.

Cheers,

Next step :) - do you know if it can be done for Exchange 5.5?

You shouldn't DISABLE the message, as it makes troubleshooting nearly
impossible, but you can edit it to be less specific. This can also be done
for the POP3 and IMAP services.

Sorry, this is slightly off the ISA topic

I have heard that it is a security no-no to have your SMTP server reply with
the following when connecting to it through telnet.

"220 <hostname>.<domain>.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service,
 Version: 5.0.2195.1600 ready at Thu, 30 Nov 2000 18:09:43 -0600"

Does anyone know how to disable this response?

Regards,
John Burridge
