Subject: [isalist] SMTP Filter/attachment blocking etc

http://www.ISAserver.org

I know loads of people have logged messages here about this so apologies
if this is old stuff. Picture this:
I have my internal Exchange server (192.168.1.6) published (as
212.219.51.14) on ISA server (192.168.1.1 internal & 212.219.51.1
external). Does that make sense up to now? I want to use the SMTP
filtering so I've set up IIS SMTP Virtual Server on the ISA box and
configured it as per the articles on isaserver.org. The internal address
I've used is 192.168.1.1 as that was the only one offered. I can't see how
this is going to work but I'm sure it must. It appears to be doing nothing
because I can remove the domains and messages still get in. I've tried
restarting the SMTP service on ISA. I'm sure I need to get this bit
blocking emails before I move onto configuring the filter which, by the
way, is already installed on ISA. I don't want to use 3 servers as
indicated in some of the documentation. I have to say some bits aren't
that clear on Microsoft's support site, in the ISA book and on the
ISAServer website. Can anyone help?
