I'm setting up a very clean install of ISA server (two nic config.) to figure out this problem when I install Allow VPN client connections...wizard . The installation of RRAS will install sucessfully, but when rebooting the server after the installation it fails, what is causing Routing and Remote Routing when it is installed to stop Microsoft ISA Server Control to fail. Do we know this is a bug? or is this still a operator's error on installing VPN for clients? Below is the error, I get. The work-around would be to stop RRAS, and restart ISA's servies and restart RRAS, but I'm looking for the TRUE fix for this incident. Event Type: Error Event Source: Microsoft ISA Server Control Event Category: None Event ID: 14192 Date: 7/30/2001 Time: 8:46:12 AM User: N/A Computer: ATL-NA-ISA-00 Description: Microsoft ISA Server Control Service failed to start because the operating system service Routing and Remote Access is already running. To fix this problem use ISA Server setup to reinstall ISA. Below is the way I installed VPN for clients: Installation of VPN for Client 1. In the console tree of ISA Management, right-mouse click Network Connections , then click Allow VPN Client connections... Where <> o Internet Security and Acceleration Server o Servers and Arrays o ATL-NA-ISA-00 o Network Connections 2. Welcome to the ISA Virtual Private Network Configuration Wizard window appears, click Next 3. Completing the ISA VPN Server Configuration Wizard window appears, click Finish 4. ISA Virtual Private Network (VPN) Wizard window appears, click Yes 5. Close ISA Management MMC Post-Installation of VPN for Client 6. From the Desktop view, click Start, select Programs, select Administrative Tools, then click Routing and Remote Access 7. Routing and Remote Access window appears, right mouse click ATL-NA-ISA-00, then click Properties Where <> o Routing and Remote Access o ATL-NA-ISA-00 8. ATL-NA-ISA-00 (local) Properties window appears, select IP tab, under Adapter drop-down box, select Private Area Network, then click OK 9. Select Remote Access Policies, in the result pane, right-mouse click Allow access if dial-in permission is enabled, then click Properties. 10. Allow access if dial-in permission is enabled Properties window appears, under If a user matches the conditions, select Grant remote access permission radio button, then click OK. 11. Close all windows. Regards, David V.
