Sure, no problem. Or you can create an account on the domain with the
same user/password of the laptop. This worked for me. This way you save
the domain's credentials once and it'll never ask you for authentication
again.

Beware that when the user's password expires, the "magic wears off" =)

Can create a network share for the everyone group or allow anonymous

XP Home can not become a member of a domain, nor can it (the OS) access
domain resources. 

The user that is logged in can access domain resources by providing
his/her
domain username and password to the extent allowed by the security
permissions on the domain.
