Chuck,

You can't and shouldn't use ISA 2004 in the same box where SQL server is
installed. First because ISA 2004 installs MSDE. Second because of security
issues.

I know, it's for learning, but the software is meant to be used that way ;)

You have got to be kidding. You have SMS (I have a bad feeling that also
means SQL) sitting on your firewall? If you are going to spend the money for
SMS, you better be able to afford the hardware for it.

my workstations."

Yeah, right.

Subject: [isalist] Trouble with ISA and SMS server

http://www.ISAserver.org

I am using ISA 2004 on a machine in which I also have SMS 2003 server
installed. My trouble is I cannot connect to the sms server from the admin
console on a remote machine within the local network. I have a rule setup
to allow all outgoing traffic within my network. Is there something
special I have to do to get the admin console to connect to the server. Is
there a way to allow all incoming traffice within my local net.. Any help
will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot... Chuck

I see, thanks for the help. I think I will put SQL on a different box. I don't know what I'm going to do about a firewall for that box. I guess I'll figure something out..
