Subject: [isalist] Proxy Never Gets Bypassed Question

http://www.ISAserver.org

Small LAN branch office setup.

All WinXP and Win2K clients are setup as Web Proxy Clients, Firewall
Clients, and SNAT clients to a single ISA box. Clients use a Win2K DC as
DNS server that forwards to the DNS server on the ISA box that forwards to
an ISP DNS server. Clients have checked [x] "Bypass proxy server for local
addresses".

But when clients try to use IE to go a LAN-resident web site by DNS name,
their traffic seems to go to the ISA server and then die. If I use the IP
number they connect OK. I don't want to put HOSTS files on each client, how
should the "local addresses" area of IE be setup (or an ISA setting) to not
use the web proxy for LAN web sites?

Thanks.
