No responses so far. No one has seen this behavior? If not then it
must be a programming error.

Thanks Again

Tim

Subject: [isalist] Problems with other software when ISA firewall client
software is loaded.

First just a little background, we have a Microsoft ISA Server 2004
Version: 4.0.2163.213 running on a Windows 2003 member server at the
edge of our network. The ISA server seems to be functioning properly
and has been in place for over 1 year. It is running Surf Control Web
Filter version 5.0.1.39 on it. I have a WPA entry in my DNS server.

We have come across some software that is having problems closing when
we have the ISA Firewall Client software loaded on the PC. When the
user attempts to close the program it does not close and they user must
use task manager and end task to get it to close. If we uninstall the
ISA Firewall Client software the programs close normally, just disabling
the client from the system tray does not resolve the issue.

One of the pieces of software is a SQL client-server software call
GP-Mate. The other one is a custom FoxPro application that is using an
SMTP library to send email. The applications seem to function properly
while running but just fail to close when shutting down.

We have resolved the Custom FoxPro application internally by changing
the method by which it is sending email. However we are unable to
resolve the SQL client software's issue. We have asked the software
vendor for assistance but their response was "what is an ISA server?"

Does anyone have any experiences or suggestions with issues like this?
We have other SQL client apps and FoxPro apps that are not exhibiting
any problems at all.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have

Tim
