Hi Bjornar, Some more things to consider: 1) Ease of use. Many of the other products like CheckPoint are too complex to configure and although ISA probably cannot be described as easy to configure beyond the basics it is definitely better than the others. In my opinion the more complicated a Firewall is to configure the more holes/mistakes you are likely to have. 2) Combined Caching and Firewall. 3) Ability to use existing User ID's & Groups (in W2K) for restricting access to web sites etc (There is only one other product on the market that can do this with W2K) 4) VPN built-in, even without a current requirement for this I consider it a major benefit. 5) H-323 GateKeeper built in. This can give huge cost savings over conventional Video Conferencing so. Again even without a current requirement for this I consider it a major benefit. 6) Link translation with FP1 7) Exchange RPC publishing -- get that to work with a PIX :-) 8) Secure OWA publishing and OWA Wizard with FP1 9) SMTP filter and Message Screener built in 10) Centralized policy and caching arrays and NLB 11) VPN Wizards that make configuring VPN Server and VPN gateways very easy HTH, Tom Thomas W Shinder www.isaserver.org/shinder ISA Server and Beyond: http://tinyurl.com/1jq1 Configuring ISA Server: http://tinyurl.com/1llp -----Original Message----- From: Bjørnar Stensrud [mailto:bjornar.stensrud@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, February 05, 2003 1:19 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Problems convince my sales staff to recomend ISA http://www.ISAserver.org Hi all! Due to both prize and the fact that Microsoft isn't a synonym with security for most people, I have some problems convince our sales staff to recommend ISA. - With ISA you need a server to at least $1500 + W2K ($1000) and the ISA server ($600) - integrated units like PIX and so on, is sold for $500 +. - Checkpoint is still expensive, but is close to what we need to pay for ISA. Because of this, small customers, will then like to have an integrated unit to $1000 or less, while the large customers have there doubts using Microsoft as Firewall.(they need to face there bosses and other with there choices) I know ISA has Caching, firewall, bandwith controll, content filtering and so on, but small customers don't need it, and large customers don't like to put all the eggs in one basket. Personaly, I believe in ISA - but I have serious problems convince customers and sellers that this is the one.... please help.....
