There is a very good chance as most that I have set up happen to use DSL. I have a buddy that has cable and he might be using a Linksys (or some other inexpensive router) so I will try and experiment with it in the next few days. How does DSL differ from cable/t1 that it would cause this? Any chance that you see this only with DSL connection? Thanks! The problem I've had with vpn's and these inexpensive routers it that when you map a port (1723) through, the vpn acts differently than it does when you connect to ISA. If a vpn connection is made to ISA (or W2k for that matter) you can then use RDP (for instance) within the tunnel. IOW, no additional ports need to be configured as RDP runs inside the tunnel. If the connection is made via the inexpensive router then forwarded to the RRAS machine you can no longer run RDP inside the tunnel. You can access shares via unc. In the case when I need to use RDP I have to map 3389 and skip using the vpn. I don't have any idea why this is. Unfortunately I have a DHCP assigned address on my Cable Modem. My solution has been to install a Linksys BEFSX41 router. This router has a DMZ port. I have my ISA server configured as the DMZ host. In this way the ISA server always sees a fixed IP address despite what the external address is. In addition this router supports dynamic DNS updates so whenever the router's IP address changes it updates my Dynamic DNS service. All of my published services work find except PPTP. And this has only stopped working since updating to the latest Firmware v1.45.3. Outbound PPTP works fine but inbound PPTP to the ISA server does not. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions about how allow inbound PPTP to work. It was working fine in the v1.43.3 firmware but that firmware has issues with working with DDNS.
