Hi Amy,

Did you flush the DNS cache on the SBS computer?

Subject: [isalist] Outlook Anywhere timeout issues

I am getting time out errors in my Outlook Anywhere rule. This just cropped up.
The rule has been in place for a couple of weeks now. This is ISA 2006 infront
of SBS 2008. (exchange 2007) When I use Test rule, it tries to access 5
folders: autodiscover, owa, oab, rpc and unifiedmessaging. OAB and RPC both
timeout. The others don't. All of the folders are located on the same server.

1460 - This operation returned because the timeout period expired.

The error message provides a non-helpful link pointing me at the test rule
section of ISA 2006 SP1 where my error is not listed.

I actually have thought of something that we changed on Friday. We did the
final demotion of the old SBS 2003 server and changed DNS on the ISA 2006
server to point to the new SBS 2008 server. However, email and the IIS site
that Outlook Anywhere uses was already running on the new server for the past
couple of weeks. I don't think that this should have effected anything. It
worked all day Friday.

I need some directly to troubleshoot this problem. Anyone else seen this issue?

thanks,

Amy Babinchak

I'm getting some time out issues on my Outlook Anywhere rule. It was working
fine until today. (the usual story) We didn't make any changes to the server
over the weekend that any of us are aware of.

This is ISA 2006 in front of SBS 2008. When I run test rule, the first two
green checks happen almost instantly, then it sits for a very long time (as in
a minute or more) then checks OAB, sits another minute or more, then checks RPC
and unifiedmessaging.

What typically causes this?
