I had the same problem a few days ago out of the blue. I ended up
installing the firewall client on the SMTP server and it was able to
resolve names and send mail. It has been working ever since.

can you browse OK? which is to say; can you resolve names?
also are remote mail servers going to be able to get to your name
servers in order to reverse resolve the sending domain? Often if a mail
server can not resolve the domain that the mail was recieved from, it
will not get delivered.

Help.
I have tried everything and I cannot get e-mail to go
out. It was working fine the 2 days ago. I opened up
UDP Port 53 for DNS, Port 25 is all set for SMTP. The
E-Mail client set is all done for the exchange server
and I have checked and re-checked but I cannot get
e-mail to go out. On the E-Mail server I can not get a
tracert to run either. Any suggestions would be
great.
