Check four things:
1. The E2K server must be a secureNAT client
2. you have an "allow" protocol rule for "DNS zone transfer" (not the
"server" version)
3. you have "Enable IP routing" selected in IP Packet Filters properties.
4. your E2K server can resolve external names ("ping yahoo.com" has to work)

Subject: [isalist] Outbound Mail From Exchange 2000

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hi there,

I am having trouble with Internet mail from my Exchange 2000 Server. The
Exchange 2000 server sits behind an ISA server, and I have run the Secure
Mail Server wizard. I can receive mail from external sources to my domain,
but cannot send any mail to any sources except internal.

I have had some suggestions on the BB at isaserver.org, but still don't
really know the source of my problem.

I can't telnet to anything, I get connection dropped or lost errors.
However, this maybe because I do not know how to use telnet, as I get these
same errors from my dialup account! Have managed to connect to one smtp
server (from dialup) but as soon as I touch any key the connection is lost.

The properties of the externally bound emails in Exchange (they are in the
retry queue) is "The connection was dropped by the remote host (or similar).

I do not have any SMTP connectors set up as I am pretty sure I can just send
directly from exchange?

Sorry if this is an exchange question but I am pretty new to both ISA and
Exchange and do not really know which area the problem lies in.

If you can help or need more information etc please get in touch.

Mike.
