Thanks Jim. The article hints of some nice new features. I would like
them to go further with some other features.

Bandwith management of SMTP, RDP, ICA, FTP, PRINTING, Windows UPDATE and
BITS ... For that matter control over any traffic to/from any
destination. Perhaps incorporation of some bandwidth shaping tools into
ISA, with some common predefined templates.

I have observed on my networks that SMTP storms either from users or the
internet cause degradation of service. More recently, BITS on the WSUS
server caused chaos by taking almost all Internet bandwidth. I have
since disabled the WSUS server pending an investigation of what went
astray. I suppose this highlights the need for the ISA server to have
the capability to manage/enforce connectivity rules for the companies
communication needs. When the WSUS server went berserk last week
Internet/intranet ecommerce to the CITRIX/RDP servers was damaged. No
other solution other than shutting down BITS on that server was
available. Likewise, limiting the size of emails and scheduling
transmission times is not a real solution.

Thanks

Darryl Janetzki

I understand that BITS is supposed to regulate its network bandwidth
.... . Does ISA 2k and 2004 have any special tools to help this
bandwidth hog.

Thanks in advance for any assistance
