Reason why I ask was...I could almost bet that I was using a Promise card that didn't support dynamic volume, once the drive was mirrored (hardware) and then upgaded by the OS to dynamic ....if the mirror breaks the OS gets confused and the data is corrupt. The purpose using the dynamic volume is not using the ability to perform redundancy but to add or delete partitions on the fly. -----Original Message----- From: John Tolmachoff (Lists) [mailto:johnlist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, July 18, 2003 2:58 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: OT: Promise (Hardware RAID) http://www.ISAserver.org 1. Yes it does support, because it has nothing to do with the Dynamic volume. That is controlled by the OS. 2. Why would you want to make a virtual disk that is controlled by a hardware controller a dynamic disk? The reason for make a disk a dynamic one is for adding drives or mirroring or such. That is already being done by the controller. John Tolmachoff MCSE CSSA Engineer/Consultant eServices For You www.eservicesforyou.com -----Original Message----- From: David V.
