RE: OT: Promise (Hardware RAID)

Reason why I ask was...I could almost bet that I was using a Promise
card that didn't support dynamic volume, once the drive was mirrored
(hardware) and then upgaded by the OS to dynamic ....if the mirror
breaks the OS gets confused and the data is corrupt. The purpose
using the dynamic volume is not using the ability to perform redundancy
but to add or delete partitions on the fly.

        1. Yes it does support, because it has nothing to do with the
Dynamic volume. That is controlled by the OS.

        2. Why would you want to make a virtual disk that is controlled
by a hardware controller a dynamic disk? The reason for make a disk a
dynamic one is for adding drives or mirroring or such. That is already
being done by the controller.

        Hi everyone,

I do not have the luxuary to purchase for testing purpose,
but wanted to know if I am able to utilize Windows 2000 or 2003 dynamic
disk volume on a hardware RAID (vendor: Promise). Is there a specifice
model that supports dynamic disk volume, by Promise? Any suggestion
would be greatly appreciated! :-)
