Hi,

Lately we have had some people moving around to remote sites which we have
connected via VPN's. In our case they are PIX to PIX VPN's using a 512/128 ADSL
connection.

The problem we are having is very slow logons and network browsing for printers
and shares etc.. I am pretty sure we have our GP setup right with the "detect
slow settings" thing.

I wanted to know what people are using at their remote sites. Currently we have
no servers.

It can be very expensive putting in a new server, or any PC really, with Win2K3
just to apply policies etc. and maybe allow for quicker software installations
using GP.

Although not a Linux person (it has become quite a bit easier to install and
there is so much info out there) putting Samba onto a Linux box seems to give
almost all the functionality of Win2K3 at a lesser cost. Yes you still have to
purchase a machine to put it on but cutting out the MS lics would save some
money. Money can be very hard to come by especially when you are talking about
putting something worth $3000 total at a small site to make things a little bit
quicker.

Anyway, I just wanted to know what some people do at their remote sites.

Thanks
