Hi Dan, That's more encouraging than what Andrew had to say. Maybe these issues are monitor specific? Perhaps the Sony 21" flat panel will be more cooperative than the Toshiba. Thanks! If I remember right, those adapters didn't have any circuitry in them either, they simply reconnected some of the DVI pins to a DB15 layout. ________________________________ From: Dogers [mailto:dogers@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, October 07, 2005 5:54 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Re: OT: DVI signaling http://www.ISAserver.org On 07/10/05, Thomas W Shinder <tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: <http://www.ISAserver.org> Anyone have much experience with Monitors with DVI connections? I put my first one together the other day, and it was a nightmare getting the colors right. Didn't know if I got a whack monitor, or if its something about DVI. I'm going to try it again tomorrow and wondered if my last experience was a one-off, or if DVI connections need more babysitting. Well DVI is the raw digital output, so the monitor gets no say in how to actually adjust the image - you can't fiddle with the RGB settings on the monitor itself. If you need to adjust the colours, you need to get some software to mess with the ICM profiles (or to just apply a setting on bootup) in Windows. Adobes Gamma tool might do, or Entechs Powerstrip, if not theres pro things like the MagicEye cameras. Have a google for "monitor calibration" :) Andrew ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Visit TechGenix.com for more information about our other sites: http://www.techgenix.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: dball@xxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Visit TechGenix.com for more information about our other sites: http://www.techgenix.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
