try /skin/ads*
It's probably resolving to more than on ip addy in dns, or even another
dns name.
Try nslookup and see if it is then block all you find.

I am using the No ads script from the isatools site, and it is doing a
pretty god job blocking a lot of banners and such, but some still get
through.
I have two destinations in it because some are coming through and I am
not sure how the wild card works.
So I have *.com with path /ads*
and *.com with path /ads/*
and still these two objects still get through:
http://www.fox.com/skin/ads/468resolve.swf
<http://www.fox.com/skin/ads/468resolve.swf>
http://www.fox.com/skin/ads/skin_audio.swf
<http://www.fox.com/skin/ads/skin_audio.swf>
Should I have the path look more like this:
*/ads* ?
