I used to use it about ten years ago to access my office computer from home. It was a "cool" thing to have, but the "security" on it always did tend to scare me. Maybe the newer version is better, but the one I was using was just basically a password (no username required). If you figured it out, you're in and have complete control. -----Original Message----- From: Thor (Hammer of God) [mailto:thor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 11:56 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Microsoft ISA Server Message Boards: Dead End = No Job! http://www.ISAserver.org When Dynamic Microprocessor owned the product, it was PFM. I used PCAnywhere extensively to support remote clients way back in the late 80's. But now, it has long outgrown its usefulness (IMO) given terminal services and remote desktop's availability... My assumption is that these "mission critical" application supporters are simply ignorant or not willing to expand their knowledge of current, securable, and reliable remote administration tools available as embedded services (and free) within any current operating system. PCAnywhere does not belong on any server, anywhere, for any reason. I'd volunteer as the shoe checker at the Reno airport before I would load that product on a server, or even a desktop for that matter. t ----- Original Message ----- From: Ball, Dan To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 7:07 PM Subject: [isalist] RE: Microsoft ISA Server Message Boards: Dead End = No Job! http://www.ISAserver.org A lot of people swear by it, I've seen it used in mission critical applications even. Really? This application should NOT be installed on a server. It replaces the MS gina and is nor reversable. Rebuild both your dc's, set up the vpn's and allow intra domain communications as per the MS Knowledge base recommendatins for Intra Domain communications through a firewall. I have replied on the bbs. (Well there's an antique term)....:)) Steve From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 12:40 AM To: ISA Mailing List Subject: [isalist] Microsoft ISA Server Message Boards: Dead End = No Job! http://www.ISAserver.org
