If it worked, then the server responded to the MMS call with a protocol redirect to RTSP. (Thanks!!) But does it mean that protocol rollover will not be possible? I believe MMS protocol has to be the initial connection to the Media Server to invoke rollover in case RTSP fails so it will try other types of connections such as RTSP UDP, and HTTP. Thanks for the consolation prize! Here is some more info in the hopes that I can win the bigger prize: 1) "does not work" means that Windows Media Player running on the external network will not connect to the URL. It just connects and connects, then times out and says server cannot be contacted 2) I have tried various methods but the most logical and documented method was as follows: -) On ISA Server, published server (mapped internal to external IP and used MMS Server protocol, allow all) -) Streaming Media Filter is enabled in Application Filters -) Created Protocol Rule under Access Policy (used MMS - Windows Media Server, Always, Any Request) 3) Using ISA 2000 Enterprise 4) Using SecureNAT 5) Tried connecting using url: mms://externalIP/filename.wmv 6) See #1 7) The most relevant line in the logs indicated my connection from my workstation (192.168.1.186) to the external interface (192.168.1.40) on MMS port (1755): 2004-10-14 21:18:24 192.168.1.186 192.168.1.40 Tcp 1243 1755 BLOCKED 192.168.1.40 8) Caca brown Thanks, Greg -----Original Message----- From: Jim Harrison [mailto:Jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2004 3:00 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: MMS Publishing http://www.ISAserver.org You win the cheapie toy. Now, if you really want to impress your date, correctly answer the following and you get to move on to the balloon-darts: What exactly is meant by "does not work"? What have you done so far to "make it work"? What version of ISA is involved; 2000 or 2004? Is the WM server a SecureNAT client to the ISA? What is the exact URL sent to / used by the client to make the connection? What is the exact error experienced at the client? What is found in the ISA Web Proxy and Firewall logs? What is your favorite color? (hint; only one of these is going to work). -----Original Message----- From: Greg Lindberg [mailto:greg@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2004 13:31 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] MMS Publishing http://www.ISAserver.org Hi, I've been able to successfully publish HTTP and FTP using the Server publishing rules (as well as web publishing rules). However MMS publishing does not work! I've read online that "some ISA clients have trouble connecting to MMS servers" and they recommended using a lower port number on the MMS server (which would make it useless for public usage using WM Player), or doing some reconfiguration via an .ini file of MMS server in the way it binds to ports (which didn't work either). Has anyone on this list successfully published MMS on an internal network and if so could you please help with this?
