Hi Shawn,

It'll generate another file if it goes over 2GB.

Just SBS/ISA? < 100MB / day here for SBS. Production ISA's here log
1.5GB+ / day (text, all fields logged). I think MSDE's physical limit
is 2GB for a db file.

Subject: [isalist] Looking for information - typical ISA log file sizes
(SQL or text)

Hi all,

I recently hit a wall with ISA 2004 MSDE logging.
My typical log size is in the 2-8 KB range, with occasional forays into
the 1+GB range on really noisy days (script kiddie holidays?).

I believe MSDE has a "total files" upper limit, but I'm not sure exactly
what that value is (investigation on a non-production ISA). I ended up
writing a maintenance script that I run daily to only keep the last 30
days' logs "live" in MSDE; all others are detached (not deleted, just
removed from MSDE tracking).

The point of this mail is to ask you guys what you usually find for the
typical log size on the SBS/ISA combinations you support?

I don't need the log contents, location or anything more than file
sizes.
This information is requested to help the ISA SE team decide how best to
deal with this scenario.

Thanx!
