Hi Tom,

Actually, I was...  I serviced KG-36, KG-46 and KG-84 crypto units. (aw sh*t;
now I have to kill everyone on the list)
The Marines I worked with were too busy keeping the Air Boss safe to worry

Hey Jim,

At least you weren't a crypto guy. I understand that jarheads stay close

OK, I'll accept that. Then, is there a tool to read these text files
into SQL at a later date?

Don't do it; you're looking forward to much pain and fewer head hairs.

ISA SQL logging, is done "per-entry", while text logging is performed in
"batches". This means that for every single loggable event, ISA must: 1.
make a call to the ODBC connection
2. authenticate to the SQL Server
3. dump a single log entry to the proper log table

as opposed to text logging, which:
1. makes a call to the local Windows file system
2. dump a bunch of entries to the log

In either case, if ISA encounters errors while writing to the log, it
will stop serving requests until logging can resume. I will guarantee
you that you'll see this far more often while logging to SQL.

Subject: [isalist] Logging to SQL Server

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hello everyone,

I am trying to configure logging to our SQL server from our ISA
server. I followed the article on ISAserver.org and I can test the ODBC
connection fine, but when I configure the logging and restart the
service I get an error indicating I don't have permissions. This is a
remote SQL box, do I have to configure the services to start under
another user account or...something? Any help is appreciated.

Tx.
Greg.
