[isalist] Re: Jimboits been going on for years.. but we are in the bad part of it now, our damns for Melbourne's water storage are at something like 40% and every year we have had water restrictions but we just don't get enough rain in winter now days and little else any other time of the year. As of next year you wont be able to wash your car, water plants, (2 days a week only, must have special hose fittings) you get a rebate for water saving showerheads, water tanks which catch the rain of your roof and use your grey water for flushing toilets and watering gardens.. its really quite bad, it always has been but in the last 5 years its become worse. Its just burning up thousands of hectares of land. and the worst bit they say they cant stop it, they try to push it in the direction they want but the wind changes and 40c temps dont really help. And they say it will burn for a month maybe.. dang im lucky im not in that! ----- Original Message ----- From: John T (Lists) To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, December 19, 2006 12:38 PM Subject: [isalist] Re: Jimbo While where I live has no where near the potential for weather related problems, this last July's Heat Storm opened our eyes to things to the point that I have now spent several K preparing for power contingencies. Even the Bridle Trails area between Bellevue and Kirkland is a major disaster of damage and power infrastructure totally down. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Harrison Sent: Monday, December 18, 2006 3:26 PM To: ISA Mailing List; ISA Mailing List Subject: [isalist] Re: Jimbo Yep - we're on "education hill". It's one of the dark spots on teh Redmond map, still. Stevew Moffat kindly offered his resources to bring isatools.org back and even gave my mail a place to rest until I can bring my own toys to life. No damage to me or mine, but not all my neightbors fared as well. One house in particular took four separate trees to the roof. For those unfamiliar with the area, few -natural- trees are shorter than ~60 feet. our communication is pretty lkimited; I have Inet access from work, but other than that, it's car-charged cell-phone. The latest update from Puget Sound Energy (www.pse.com) hints that this weekend is the most realistic "lights on" estimate.
