Remember that when ISA provides the authentication request, it places the
auth methods in preference order.
Many apps (MSNIM, for one) can't handle this ordering scheme (contrary to
RFC 2617) and choke.
Thus, even if you have allowed Basic auth, if NTLM is still selected, Basic
will not be listed first, causing auth failure for many apps.

No site and content rules that would cause the prompt? How are the proxy
settings configured in the Sun Java Plugin? What version of the plugin are
you running, also? The Java security in IE doesn't do anything for the Sun
plugin, it's only for the MS Java VM. The Sun plugin has its own settings
that you set through a control panel applet.

As part of SBS it is setup for integrated authentication. But the prompt
anonymous users for authentication, is not selected.

Is basic authentication enabled on the ISA?

A client is running a Sun Java app for managing their retirement account
through Manulife. When anyone but the domain admin attempts to use this
app Java prompts for username and password. Any attempt to put in a
username and password fails. The domain admin does not get prompted for
username and password and the app works fine. Manulife is absolutely no
help. They claim to user http port 8080 and all they said was that the
user needs full access to that port. The users have full access to 8080
but just for humor I added the user to the domain admins group and I put
Java security in IE on low - and still got prompted for creditentials.
Any ideas out there?

Amy
