You know Amy, That is entirely true, but I guess I come from the old
school where if I have to rely on my firewall to balance out the
equation of my overall network security then im losing from the start.

The trouble here is I think that this product, has been able to be
incorporated into deployments for small-medium-enterprise size
solutions. Unfortunately or fortunately that means that different techs
who come from different schools will always have their own
thoughts/clients/SOP in mind. In this case I know that in an ideal world
some would not stray from the ideal and secure deployments they are used
to, because big business seldom runs out of money for a new server.

On the flip side of the pancake, small business are almost in the
opposite situation. Therefore I agree that we should sell them SBS or a
best fit solution (doesn't have to be MS). With my medium business
clients I always tend to go the former solution but with the small
business clients I tend to be doing SBS. They are single domain
environments and some have as little as 5 clients. I can recommend till
I'm blue in the face, security best practises but their idea of a server
is the windows 2000 pro machine which houses some excel files (which
they don't backup) so they are never going to buy it.

Whats good for the goose is not always good for the gander...but again
this has degenerated into an SBS discussion, so in my parting words let
me just say..

The reality is that for small business they've either got ISA or a
linksys router. Which is better at protecting SBS?

You know that's a good point. I guess I should be heartened by the fact

that if people choose to deploy such a grievous security infraction such
as SBS, that ISA is there to protect it ;)
