Hi all, I think this can be done by having 2 static routes with costs associated. Keeping the route using ISDN connection at a ahigher cost than the route going through DSL. As long as the DSL is up, all traffic will go through DSL, but as soon as the DSL connection breaks, the ISDN connection will be activated. Actually using CIsco thjis can be done in 3 ways. I can help if you want this to be done using cisco ISDN. Thanks rami -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 12:34 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: ISA and ISDN backup connection http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Casey, I don't know if you can do it with one machine (because I've never tried it or investigated the possibility), but you can do it easily with two machines and OSPF. When the low cost route is detected as unavailable, it should direct packets the demand dial interface on the second machine that has the ISDN modem installed. You don't need ISA Server, since ISA Server doesn't manage VPN gateways connections anyway. Let us know what you find out about the single machine config. Thanks! The corporate HQ is connected to the internet using a T1 that goes directly into the ISA The remote office has DSL for an internet connection going directly into the ISA. The tunnel comes up and users from both networks can communicate with eachother - everything is fat, dumb and happy, except when the DSL connection decides to go to sleep. Because of the unreliable nature of the DSL connection and lack of any other high-speed internet service in the remote office's location we have decided to purchase 2 external ISDN modems to use as backup connections in the event that the DSL connection craps out. Each ISDN devices is identical, made by MultiTech and connects to the serial port of each ISA server. What I am looking for is guidance with how to configure RRAS so when the Tunnel is detected as being unreachable, RRAS will fire off the ISDN connection to connect to the ISDN modem in the corporate HQ. If this is beyond RRAS's capability, is there another means, short of initiating the connections manually, while utilizing the existing hardware? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
