No, that will not work.
The external and internal interfaces have to be separated both logically and 
physically.

Hi Jim,

I suspected that was the case...

I have another question for you - in this case can I just add another NIC to
the ISA Server and have both connected to the same router?  Would there be
any conflicts?  Will I then be able to get the firewall to work or will I
now have the same problem times 2?  Meaning that both NICs are connected to
same router having 2 individual IP addresses but the same subnet.

Thanks for any help you can provide...
