I forgot to add a little "kicker" to the equation. I am also running
three other VM's in my test environment: W2K3 Enterprise, W2K3 Web, and
W2K3 Standard, all in the test domain (W2K). I have been testing on all
three of them for a few days, with absolutely no problem at all. Seems
to me the issue with the ISA Server on my W2K3 VM is OS/Network related.

I too have had issue with W2K3 and ISA Server. However, I also have
another variable involved: VMWare GSX 2.5.

For about one year I have run ISA Server (w/SP1) on a Windows 2000
(VMWare host and guest), with absolutely no problems at all. I don't
even get one warning or error in my event logs.... ever! This is
currently my production firewall.

So when W2K3 came to my greedy little hands, I attempted to build a test
environment with the following steps:

Host System: Windows 2000 Server, SP3
Guest System: Windows 2003 Standard + ISA Server + Service Pack I +
Hotfix for ISA Server on W2K3

When I booted this system, I exported rules from production and imported
them into test. Then I rebooted the system and everything came up
perfectly, and seemed to run perfectly as well. I logged in as
domain\administrator, putzed around and then logged out. After a little
time had passed, I logged in again it took forever to get in.

Turns out that the errors I get revolve around userenv, netlogon, and
group policy.

I am not especially looking for a solution, I never consider a MS OS
ready for serious testing until at least SP1 arrives. Just thought I'd
throw in my latest (and only for a while) experience on the topic!

Mark

Greetings from Albany NY
I've been running ISA on Windows 2003 Standard server and have had no
issues. I started with a clean build of Windows 2003, then loaded ISA,
SP1,
and then the hotfix isahf255. My only suggestion would be is if you
upgraded
to Windows 2003 that you do a clean install instead and then load ISA.
Let
me also add that I have nothing else running on this server. This server
is
stricly used as a firewall and nothing else.

Ray
