Well, you'd better sort out your internal dns...:)) Can you ping your
internal dns servers from the mail server?
Also make sure your smtp server is bound to the correct IP address.

It did have it's own connection...I disabled the second nic when I was
routing the exchange server through the ISA server. I enabled the second
one back to see if would stay connected to the dc which I see it
isn't...
Apparently I don't know enough about dns, if I don't stick the outside
DNS on it mail doesn't go out because it can't connect.. Inbound is no
problem..

Don't use external dns server IP's on the mail server nic, and why do
you have 2 nics in it???

Yes, this is the one..as you can tell by getting this that it's
working..but it's not working right.
I have the adapter pointing an outside DNS It's setup like this.
Adapter IP 192.168.0.2
Sub 255.255.0.0
Gateway 192.168.0.216 which is the ISA server 1st DNS 192.168.0.2 Alt
DNS 66.28.0.45
I have a second adapter too that is strictly pointing to the inside
domain controller.
Problem I have is it looks like the server disconnects itself from the
DC

Sorry if you've gotten this once...didn't see it show up on the list....
This is my problem...
I have mail getting through to Exchange Inbound
Outbound says it can't get connected
I set up the adapter to have the default gateway be the isa server and
then DNS to the outside server and nslookup worked fine. Still no mail
would go through.
I have all the firewall policies setup. SMTP, DNS.
What simple thing am I missing?
