ISA Enterprise

Hello all,
Some questions regarding ISA Enterprise where you have install the schema
enhancement to the AD database.
When we are connecting to the Enterprise policy via the MMC tool, does
it mean that it is doing some query to the AD, or does it mean that
it is stored locally on the server itself.
