So Should I just create the packet filter with SMTP outbound or do I need to
create protocol rule as well.

Hi Shobha,
If the SMTP server is external, then you can't use the built in packet
filter because that packet filter is used to allow inbound SMTP access.
You need to create a packet filter to allow outbound SMTP access. You
need to create packet filters to support applications and services
running on the ISA Server itself (in general).

I am trying to set up alert action as send an email. I am using the
external smtp server. I have craeted a packet filter for SMTP(inbuilt)
protocol. Its still not sending the email to specified email addresses.
Can anyboby pls help.
