True, they depended on ISA for the authentication, however, SC did not
know who to handle unauthenticated traffic from ISA.
If you might remember, SurfControl 5.x had trouble filtering both ISA
2004 and 2006 unauthenticated traffic when those ISA products first
released. It took them sometime to work out their bugs to capture
unauthenticated traffic http request.

No, it didn't; ISA did.
Neither SC nor WS have any authentication logic in them.
The y both depend on ISA being configured to authenticate all requests.

I am very glad I decided to stick with our Websense :). Do you know
though if the email parts of Surfcontrol will be integrated into
Websense? Surfcontrol did some antispam software and appliances.
