Try going to the phone service provider and see if there are updates available. 
Many of them do have updates. This generally will take care of the intermediate 
certificate issue.

We have seen similiar things with Windows Mobile device that required  
the manual addition of the intermediate certificate on the mobile  
device to validate without error.
