Any time you say "ISA" and "Java" in the same breath, you've identified
your problem.
Java applets are known for failing:
- authentication (updating the JRE often helps)
- to use the proxy settings properly (also frequently a JRE issue)

If you see nothing from the java crapplet in the ISA logs, it's likely
that proxy settings are the problem.
Do you have the JRE debugger installed?
If so, it can tell you exactly where it failed the connection attempt.

Subject: [isalist] Re: ISA 2004 access to skills.netacad.net

We are running ISA Server 2004 and have a problem running the CISCO
Network Academy JAVA CNA on our student PCs.

I know that the problem is with the ISA configuration because when I try
the website on a computer connected outside of the ISA server it works
fine.

Problem is the student PCs is not able to see the network beyond our
ISA.

I am testing it using the CISCO CNA test page
(http://skills.netacad.net/ValidationStart.action) the problem we are
having is the JAVA applet is displayed but the bottom half (switch
emulator is not) this works fine on PCs not using the ISA.

I have tried viewing the logs in real-time on the ISA whilst accessing
this page and it does not show any connection being blocked. We have a
special rule configured for websites which do not work properly with
proxy authentication, this page included to allow anonymous connections.

Has anybody else seen these problems using this page on ISA Server 2004.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
