Hi Hugo, We must have been absorbing the same negative Vibes last week. I ran into the exact same problem. Same machine, nothing changed except uninstall the ISA Server stand-alone and reinstall it. The backup would not restore! Fortunately, the access control and publishing configuration requirements weren't that hard. But you must have this file to make your life 10,000X easier for the next time. I just removed a corrupted ISA installation using the rmisa.exe utility, and installed ISA again. Same machine, same Win2K Srvr, same ISA mode, same power oulet, etc. An error message telling me that the restore is not possible. TechNet just tells me that ISA cannot be restored on a different box or in the sam box with ISA running in different mode. Guess? Reconfigure customer's ISA again from scratch. This was my only bad experience with restoring ISA. Already run fine other times (~6 restores). -----Original Message----- From: Shayne Lebrun [mailto:slebrun@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: segunda-feira, 30 de julho de 2001 14:24 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: How does Backup/Restore of ISA Config work? http://www.ISAserver.org Personal experience leans over, taps you on the shoulder, and says 'nope.' I hoped it worked that way meself, and you know what? It didn't. -----Original Message----- From: Warren Cundy [mailto:warrenc@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, July 30, 2001 1:28 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] How does Backup/Restore of ISA Config work? http://www.ISAserver.org Can somebody shed some light on the backup/restore process of ISA? If I back up my current ISA server, and then install Win2k Server and ISA Std. on a completely different box, can I just restore the config to that box, and its an instant-swappable firewall? Is there anything more to it than that? Providing of course I set up the same NIC config in the 2nd machine...
