How could i find time spent on a url

Sir,
I am doing a reporting software over which i should find out how many
hours a website is browsed.
Could you also please clarify me on what basis the hits over the ISA logs
are recorded.
I mean if a user exits a page whether a hit is posted or not. If not
posted then how could we calculate time spent on that web site using log
file generated
