Hi James, I use remote desktop publishing on an alternate port and it works well. The protocol is secure, but like any other authenticated access method, DoS attacks using brute force and account lockout is common. Be sure to use a bizzare user name like X54k02kcos4-9iopwrit248610q and password so that no one guesses the user name on the published remote desktop. For VPN, you can't do much better for yourself than the ISA Server 2000 VPN Deployment Kit beta 2: http://isaserver.org/news/vpnkitbeta2.html HTH, Tom Thomas W Shinder www.isaserver.org/shinder <http://www.isaserver.org/shinder> ISA Server and Beyond: http://tinyurl.com/1jq1 Configuring ISA Server: http://tinyurl.com/1llp <http://tinyurl.com/1llp> -----Original Message----- From: James Packer [mailto:jpacker@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2003 3:45 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Good morning http://www.ISAserver.org Is there a article on this (step by step) anywhere. what port does VPN use my Local education authority has closed off most of the ports so ill need to ask them to open the port.
