Hello,

I use the following setup:

Cable Modem -----------> Linksys Router --------------> ISA Server
----------> Protected Network

Actually it is:

Cable Modem ----------->|---------------|
                        | RV042         |----------- > ISA Server
------------> Protected Net.
DSL Modem  ------------>|---------------|

Now the Router handles the DHCP negotiation with the cable/dsl providers. The
ISA server is configured with a fixed external IP address. You will have to
configure the router to allow inbound connections that you want to reach your
ISA Server (This is a real case of "opening a port(s)"). Keep in mind that
the RV042 which I am referring to has two External(Wan) ports. The BE series
routers have only one WAN port.

As mentioned elsewhere in this thread this setup does make server publishing
possible with dynamic IP addresses on the WAN side.

I actually have a linksys router. How should this be connected, as it is now
I have the modem connected directly to the ISA server box, then I have nic
number two connected to a switch. I have a linksys router with
4 port switch. How should it be hooked up in this setup. Should I connect the
modem to the wan input, or should the ISA box be connected wan input of the
land.. Help me out here. U might be able to tell I don't know what I'm
doing..
