Sounds like you're on the right track; can the manufacturer give you the
specifics of their protocol? Sometimes a packet trace isn't as obvious
as
you might expect.

I've got a problem that I am hoping some of you smart
people can help me with.

We have a vendor who we get an information feed that
has recently offered an update. We downloaded the
update and it instaled on our computers but when we
start the program and try to login we get server not
found.

On one computer that is not on behind the isa server,
it runs fine of course. On that machine it appeared
to be using tcp ports 1090 and 1093 out and different
ports in. It also will work from the isa server
itself. I tried creating a rule that protocol
definition that uses 1090 + 1093 tcp out and secondary
1025-5000 in but that didn't work.

By the way, Tom, I did buy youy book too, I just don't
have it yet, not until next week. Meanwhile I worked
on this all day yesterday. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Just a general direction would help.

Thanks,

Jim
