Frontpage server extentions

Hey Guys,

 

I have a question after a long time. 

I have a web server and I have published it using web publishing rule and
was working fine.

But when one of my programmer tried to access it thru Interdev using
frontpage server extensions  2002, he was prompted for the login
info(perfect till here), but after login , it gave error that could not
connect to server. The login was correct. 

 

Then after playing for a while, I tried to publish the server using server
publishing rule ( rather than web server publishing rule) and defined it on
port 80. Not to my surprise, it worked this time.

 

So my questions are, why didn't it work with web server publishing rule ?

Is web server publishing different for server publishing on port 80 ???

 

The logs just showed connection denied when the credentials were given with
web publishing rule and with server publishing it works fine.
