The prob.

My win 2k laptop, will not work with the firewall client software.
It has before, but failed a few weeks ago.
I have formatted (many times), installed a new drive, obtained a new
win 2k Pro copy, replaced the PMCIA lan card. Yet it still will not
respond. I have used the laptop for a week or so now with out the
firewall client, but now I need it.

I have a second laptop with XP on it, it has no problem with the
firewall client.
I have a second drive with Win98 on it, no firewall client issues.
My main laptop dual boots to win98, no firewall client issues there.

You've done the full DNS testing?
---DNS works fine before enabling the firewall client.
Is the machine part of the domain if
you're using one?
---No domain , standalone server SOHO network...
Can the machine correctly resolve the ISA server?
---before enable FW software YES, after NO.
Can you perform 1000+ pings without packet loss on a local network (ping
-t1000 isa.server.name)?
---Haven't tried that :)
I think that they are the major issues -
connectivity. Can you give us feedback as to what happens when you
install the client? eg: lockups / system death or just lack of working ?

---Lose of network functionallity , sometimes complete ,other times I can
browse the net.
If I shut down the machine with the FW client active then when it starts up,
I lose the ability to grab an ip from the DHCP server.
Does the client detect? strobe between working and not or ?
--- The client will show that it is config'd to use the isa server by name
then after a period it will fail... so Yes I guess it does strobe.

Details please! :)

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in
practice, there is.
