They're known for hard coding the University of Wisconsin's time server into their firmware..... My friend had many a sleepless night trying to figure out how to deal with hundreds of thousands of incoming connections to that server, since part of their charter of the department says they'll always provide some services like time to the public....... Go Badgers! -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 9:00 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] FYI: Cisco SNMP http://www.ISAserver.org Nice fix, eh? Cisco IP/VC Devices Have Known Default SNMP Community Strings Cisco reported that some of its IP/VC devices contain hard-coded SNMP community strings, which could be used to gain access to the products' SNMP management and monitoring interface. Cisco has released an advisory that states that no patch is available for the problem. The company suggests that administrators disable SNMP on affected devices. In cases for which that's not possible, administrators should block SNMP traffic to and from the affected devices. More details and suggestions are available in the advisory. http://list.windowsitpro.com/t?ctl=F04:5465A <http://list.windowsitpro.com/t?ctl=F04:5465A> ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tradtke@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
