That is *if* the ISP allows you to login via RDP, which is unlikely. If so,
well then this sounds like a great alternative. :)

Use Terminal Services.
The RDP client allows you to map drives from the client to the server through
the RDP connection.
It's encrypted, authenticated and requires no special setup in the client,
server or intervening firewall.
