Hi John,

What's the deal with the PIX? Does there own SMTP filter break the
response from the SMTP server?

It is definitely a connection problem whereby the receiving mail server
received the message, but the message received code never made it back
to
the sending mail server.

Yes, the exchange board can help more on this, as I know what happened
but
not how to fix.

Also, is there by chance a Cisco PIX firewall in the stream somewhere?

If so, have you heard of the SMTP fixup protocol problem?
